Artopia!

I am really excited to watch power tool racing at Artopia on Saturday.  Also, my double dutch team will be performing at 7pm.  Also, my double dutch teammate, Sugar Free a.k.a. Flatchestedmama,  will have a booth set up in which she will answer questions about performance art from 2 - 6pm.

May is Gong Show Appreciation Month (for me, anyway)

I am scared.  Horrified.  What am I getting myself into?  My double dutch team, On the Double, is performing at two Gong Shows this month.  Hey, if Oingo Boingo and Pee Wee Herman could do it on the original Gong Show, then so can we!

The first of our Gong Show performances will be The Stranger's Gong Show at Chop Suey this Friday, May 8 at 9pm for $5.

The second Gong Show we are performing at will be Zenzi Burlesque's Gong Show at Columbia City Theater in Columbia City Saturday, May 16.  There are two show times for that one; 7:30pm and 9pm.

If you want to catch us tomorrow night in a less ridiculous atmosphere that is all ages (both Gong Shows are 21+), we'll be jumping at the Pioneer Square Art Walk at around 6:30pm.

If you come to either of the Gong Shows, please show us some love and help us not get gonged!

Seattle Double Dutch is Awesome. That is All.

Last spring I went to a double dutch class, and here is what happened:  I loved it so much that I joined the instructor Andrea's team, On The Double (Dutch)!  We will be doing public performances beginning in Spring 2009.

The Seattle adult women double dutch class I attended was recently featured on Kiro TV news.  You can get information about double dutch classes for children or adults at NW Double Dutch.  If you are worried about bad knees or stiff bones, I would like to mention that the floor at Community Fitness (the location of the adult women class and some of the kid classes) is a cork floor which is easier on the bod than the pavement you used to jump rope on at recess as a kid.  Also, double dutch is not as difficult as you think it is, and Andrea can usually get everyone doing at least one trick in the ropes by the end of the first class.  Andrea is heading down to Mexico to teach double dutch for a couple of months so classes will start up again in Seattle in February.
